KATOAVA MAISEMA ( disappearing landscape) is a permanent installation by Helsinki-based artist Terike Haapoja. It is located in the Department of LIghting and Sound Design of Theatre Academy of Finland. Katoava maisema belongs to the Finnish State Art Collection.
The work consists of a high-definition, real-time video image portraying nature, and a sound scape streamed (also real time) form the same site. The image is viewed from a flat screen placed in the hallway of the department, while the 8-speaker sound scape fills the stairway of the building.
The approximated duration of the piece is 10 years.
